Are you pooping daily?

I've been talking about opening drainage pathways this month (no idea what I mean about drainage pathways? Read this, it's quick).

We can do all the cleanses and detoxes but true detox starts with open drainage pathways. There are tools we can use to give the body's natural filtration systems (kidneys and liver) a helping hand and ease their toxic burden. BUT if your digestion is not functioning optimally and unwanted substances and toxins are not being efficiently removed from the body then you are not detoxing. Period.

HOW TO REMOVE TOXINS

Eat plenty of fiber. Why? Because fiber binds to toxins and helps excrete them from the body.

Drink half of your body weight in ounces of water daily. When you wake up in the morning, start your day with water to rehydrate. You can add a pinch of grey Celtic salt or pink Himalayan salt for minerals. I even add a big squeeze of lemon or lime (potassium). Water helps facilitate normal bowel movements and also helps to excrete toxins from the body.

Make sure you are pooping daily. The body excretes an incredible amount of toxins through stool. If you aren't pooping, your body is hanging on to toxins. Gross, right?

My clients usually spend the first 30-45 days doing the work of opening drainage pathways. Since we're opening those pathways to clear out any stagnation in the gallbladder, kidneys, and liver, I tell them they should have 2-3 bowel movements a day. This is laying the groundwork so we can then dig in and clear out bigger issues and imbalances.

If you're anything like my average client, you probably panicked when you read that you should be pooping 2-3 times a day to clear out these toxins. Most of my clients are having 2 bowel movements a week, not 2-3 a day. I promise that this is doable, you just have to work with and support your body. And once we get those drainage pathways open and years of toxin build up out, people begin to feel better and more energetic before we even begin the deeper work.
