Master Your Morning Routine
“An extraordinary life is all about daily, continuous improvements in
the areas that matter most.”
—Robin Sharma
Make your morning work for you. We are all unique and lead wildly different lives. Why should our morning routines look the same? Create a routine that is practical for you.
1. Start the night before. An unplanned day often leaves us stumbling from one activity to another and at the end of the day wondering where the day went. Lay out your exercise clothes, set up your meditation cushion, and have your smoothie ingredients prepped and ready to go.
2. Wake up earlier. Begin to move your wake up time a few minutes earlier each week with a goal of beginning your mornings an hour earlier. This is game-changing habit that has helped some of the world’s most beloved writers, artists, and leaders create their best work.
3. Mornings are our most productive time of the day. In the morning our cortisol is the highest so ideally, this is when you have the most energy and motivation. It’s great to use the mornings to tackle the hardest tasks first.
4. Move! Starting your day with a workout, stretch, or a walk around the block, has mental and physical benefits..
5 Reflect. Choose one of the following to get centered and regroup: daily affirmations, gratitude practice, meditation, journaling.
6. Nourish. Your body is your temple so ensure you nourish it before you get your day started: hydrate, tongue scrape and/or oil pull, dry brush, have a nourishing breakfast, listen to a podcast or audio book that is inspiring and uplifting.
Lastly, remember to have fun! There’s no right or wrong way as long as you’re creating a routine that brings you joy.
